The Low- Buy Weekly Update #1

Following up with my recent post, I've started a low-buy for the next 3-6 months. I'm really hoping to extend this until the 6 month point as I think it's a good step for me. I'm feeling extremely overwhelmed with my collection right now, and I think that curbing spending will be what I need to enjoy what I own at the current time. If you missed the original post, check it out here. And, if you would like to join me, leave a comment. I would love all the support I can get with this experience.

To recap, I've allowed myself $100 to spend each month. This is a significant reduction in my beauty budget and will be used to purchase items that need to be replenished or a fun treat or two. Now, on to the update.

It's only been a week, and I'm already over budget to the tune of $18.  Here's what I've bought:

From Dermstore: I used a 25% off promo code c/o retailmenot to help bring the cost down. If you never shopped Dermstore.com, I highly recommend giving this site a try. There are always coupon codes and free US shipping. And, all three sites normally allow combination orders and use of coupons.  Plus, adding items to favorites will always save you 10% with very few exclusions. This is a great way to buy high-end makeup and skincare with discount. Shipping is always fast and reliable. I order from Dermstore quite a bit, as I can always save money on products from the website. As an added bonus, a deluxe sample and a magazine subscription is included with purchase.

The total retail value is over $75, and I spent only $54!

Tarte Clean Slate Flawless 12 hr. Brightening Primer : I needed a new primer as I didn't have a suitable backup.

Tarte Lights Camera Splashes Waterproof Mascara: I'm out of my beloved Mary Kay Lash Love and ordered this to try. With the discount, it was less than my Lash Love and no dealing with eBay.

Anastasia Brow Wiz:  I have no idea where my Chanel pencil ran off to. It's been MIA, and I have no back up. I thought I'd try this since it's raved about in the beauty world. With the discount, I only paid $15.75, so it's almost 50% off savings compared to Chanel. Maybe, I will like this one better.

Now, I planned to stop with this purchase and save the rest of the budget for Sephora VIB sale this week. Unfortunately, I was drawn in by the allure of a free sample bag. So, I placed an order on Sephora.

Sephora Total $64:

Origins High Potency Night- A- Mins Cream: I needed a winter night-time moisturizer, so I repurchased this one.

I'm thankfully almost done with the never-ending bottle of Bioderma, so I repurchased Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water.  I like this one much better than Bioderma, so it's a welcome re-addition to my skin care arsenal. I don't mind the PEG's in this one as I use this only on my eyes, and it doesn't irritate.

Use BLITZ to choose 1 of 4 sample bags. I picked the Nourishment Bag below.

P.S. The 25% off  Dermstore code is still working as of 11/4/13. Try SAVE25DERMCS to snag a great deal.

So, it looks like the rest of the month will be a no-buy. However, I do have a Sephora gift card that I might use during the VIB sale to purchase a new NARS concealer as mine is almost out, and I don't have a suitable backup. But, I will not be making a major haul.

Are you currently doing a low-buy or spending ban? Please leave a comment. Thanks for reading.

**All items are purchased by me with my own personal money. As well, this is not a sponsored post. I just really love Dermstore and Sephora**
